Monthly Favorites: January 2024

One of my goals for 2024 is to share more about me and my life outside of the kitchen. I figured one fun way to do that would be by sharing a list of favorites each month — whether that be clothes, books, candles, self care…it really can be anything!

Spoiler alert: since it’s currently winter here in Pennsylvania (it literally is snowing as I’m writing this!), most of my favorites for this month fall into the clothing and self care buckets. You can always view a full list of all of my favorite clothes, products, and more on my LTK shop here.

Clothes & Shoes

I’ll admit it, I have had a tiny bit of an obsession with platform shoes the past few years. I purchased my first pair of Ugg Tazz slippers last year and fell in love. So, naturally, I bought another pair in a different color this year. They’re comfortable, super cute and fun with the platform, and easy to wear with everything (mostly leggings for me). They’re my go-to shoe for walking the dogs, running errands…pretty much everything! I definitely have gotten my money’s worth out of these and hope they continue to stay popular for the next few years. Either way, I’ll be wearing them.

The only way to survive the winter season: Alo Accolade Sweatpants. They’re super thick, amazing quality, and have the perfect baggy/cozy fit. I live in these sweatpants all throughout the winter, especially when it’s super cold and I have to walk the pups. I have worn these so many times and they’re still in amazing condition. Kind of a splurge for cotton sweatpants, but I think they’re worth it.

Another clothing necessity for me! Pair this Lululemon Scuba Oversized Funnel-Neck Full Zip with a Lululemon Align tank, Alo Accolade sweatpants, and Ugg Tazz slippers, and this is practically my winter uniform. Why I love the funnel-neck full zip oversized version of the Scuba: it’s thick, but has a loose fit which makes it super cozy. The funnel neck keeps my neck warm and makes it a great layering piece under a coat. Also, without a hood, I feel like it makes it more versatile and it’s nice to not feel the weight of the hood. I already have two of these and suspect that I will be purchasing more this year.

Self Care

Moving on from clothes, one of my top favorite self care items is the Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Collagen Face & Eye Patches. For the price, you get so many patches — compared to other options, this seems like the better option for your money. As for the product itself: I love these! They’re easy to apply, stay on your face, and actually work. When I remove these patches, my skin feels tighter and firmer. I store these in my fridge and apply them at night as part of my self care/relaxation routine before bed.

If you’re like me and suffer from dry skin (eczema for me!), I highly recommend picking up  a few of these Aveeno Hand Masks to help hydrate your skin. They’re easy to use and will leave your hands feeling softer than before. Are they a permanent fix? No. But, whenever I do use these, I notice a difference. So, my recommendation would be to consistently use them, maybe once a week/once every few weeks.

My favorite moisturizer ever — and let me tell you, it took me a while to find a moisturizer that I truly loved. I have combination, acne prone skin, so I’m very hesitant to try new products out of fear of breaking out. Most moisturizers I’ve tried out either aren’t hydrating enough, or they’re too hydrating and make my skin feel oily all day (nobody wants that!). What I like about the Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturizer is that it has a pretty light consistency and weight. However, it’s extremely moisturizing. You do not need a lot of this product — a little goes a very long way. This has been a lifesaver for me, especially during these dry, winter months.

TV Shows

If you know me, then you know that I’m not the best at watching new shows and movies. I’d much rather watch my favorite YouTubers daily. However, during the month of January, I binge watched My Life with the Walter Boys in one day. Although it’s more so a show for a younger audience, I enjoyed it. It was cute, funny, and even featured Donna (Sarah Rafferty) from Suits. As soon as I finished My Life with the Walter Boys, I started rewatching Suits from Season 1/Episode 1. This is my second time watching Suits all the way through and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. With it being on Netflix now, I think most people have probably seen it, but if you’re reading this and you haven’t — I highly recommend that you give it a go!

And that wraps up my monthly favorites for January! While these are mostly products that I’ve loved for years, they truly are my winter necessities. What are your must-have winter items? Let me know below!
